and helical reduction heavy duty gear units are the result of many years of practical
experience in the line. Gear cases with liberal ribbing increases heat dissipation area
and streamlined sump carrying more oil enhances the thermal rating of the gear boxes. All
this means that continuous load carrying capacity is increased without appreciable rise in
temperature.

Worm - Case hardened alloy steel
Worm Wheel - phosphor Bronze.
Gear Casing - Graded C.I. Casting.
- Worms are generated on special purpose worm milling machines, hardened and
ground to close tolerance.
- Worm wheels are hobbed on precision hobbing machines with high accuracy hobs. Right hand
thread are provided unless otherwise specified.
HELICAL GEAR BOXES
Pinion - En-24 induction hardened Gears - 20 Mn Cr 5
Gear Casing - Graded C.I. Casting / Plate Fabricated, Stress Relieved.
BEARINGS
The gear elements are supported on anguler contact / taper
roller / ball / roller anti-friction bearings of ample margin of safety to allow adequate
journal as well as thrust loads.
SERVICE FACTORS
Depending upon the nature of load, the characteristics of the
prime mover and duration of operation, an appropriate service factor must be applied.
Multiply the nominal absorbed H.P. by service factor and use the figure to determine the
size of the gear box.
